a) Saturday, 2/21 early morning departure with return to Wooster on 2/22 afternoon
b) Plan: Travel to The Henry Ford Museum; lunch at the museum; after completion of the museum proceed to the Holiday Inn Express & Splash Universe Resort (indoor water park) in Dundee, MI, where T - 61 will spend the night; traditional Pizza Party that evening; use of the indoor water park that evening and the next day, Sunday, 2/22; return home on 2/22 afternoon.

  3. Finalize Merit Badge Schedule if not already done
  4. Review you Merit Badge prerequisites and for First Aid Merit Badge you First Aid kit
  5. Bring you Pipestone Wood (bundled, tagged, and ready for inspection by the SPL)
  6. Pick up your Troop 61 Hat and Red& Green T-Shirts if needed
  7. Pay for your Troop 61 Group Photo and for the pizza for Thursday night at camp (fees to be determined)

e) Please forward to me and e-mail stating if you are going to participate in this merit badge ASAP. I can then place a group order for the merit badge books and each scout will be responsible for reimbursing the troop for the price of the book (approximately $5.00).

Saturday, August 1 - Thursday, August 6: OA NOAC (National Order of the Arrow Conference)

a) Location: Indiana University
b) Registration fee: $395.00 (includes: materials, lodging, and food)
c) Extra contingent expenses: approximately $50.00 (T-shirts, hats, travel, etc.)

Saturday, August 8: 11:00 am at the Church House: Eagle Scout Court of Honor for Braden Rucinski

a) Troop 61 members are expected to attend all Troop 61 Eagle Scout Court of Honor ceremonies
b) Remember that participating in activities such as an Eagle Scout Court of Honor and Flag Ceremonies can assist with rank advancement requirements (Second Class 2a & 3 and First Class 3)
c) Class A Uniform (Merit Badge sash)
d) Set up: 9:30 am
e) Dress Rehearsal: 10:00 am (for those with a participatory role in the ceremony)

Saturday, August 22: OA Sipp-O Lodge #377 Ox Roast/Merit Badge Conference (NOT AN OFFICIAL TROOP SPONSORED EVENT)

a) Location: Seven Ranges Scout Reservation
b) Cost: age 13 and up: $10.00 ($12.00 day of the event); age 6-12: $5.00 ($6.00 day of the event); age 4 & under: free
c) One ticket provides for one gourmet dinner (including beverage, salad, and dessert) (2:00pm-7:00pm)
d) Note: some events require some additional fees to participate

ADDITIONAL NATIONAL INFORMATION AND DATES TO CONSIDER:

2010 National Scout Jamboree (July 23 to August 4, 2010 at Fort A.P. Hill, Virginia):

The Buckeye Council 2010 National Scout Jamboree Contingent (comprised of 8 adults and 72 boys) is close to filling all the 72 youth spaces. As of 8/14 it was reported that there were 10 openings available for boys.

The requirements include being a First Class Scout at the time of attendance at the jamboree in July/August 2010; have completed 7th grade or be at least 12 years of age by 1/1/2010 and have not reached his 18th birthday by July 25, 2010.

If you will meet these requirements and have an interest in attending please contact me for further information.
There is a 2010 NSJ Scholarship Application available.
