Pipestone Wood Collection Instructions

Summer Camp 2009 Announcements

Please remember that everyone needs a new History / Physical Exam Form (Annual Health and Medical Record)
completed each year (NOTE THE WORD ANNUAL) starting with this year for summer camp. This forms needs to
be turned into the troop during the June 15 or June 22 meeting (see calendar below). You must have a completed
physical form signed by your physician otherwise you cannot go to summer camp. These forms were distributed
earlier this year. Additional forms should be available on the council web site (click on
medical forms for the Annual Health and Medical Record), or the national web site.

Please remember to forward you summer camp merit badge requests to Mr. Wake if you have not already done so.
This information will be reviewed at the June 15 and June 22 pre summer camp meeting (see calendar below).

Please remember that if you are going for Pipestone Year 1-4 you must be gathering and preparing your Pipestone
wood. Please review the handout you received at the Spring Court of Honor or see the troop web site for additional
information regarding the preparation of Pipestone wood. This must be inspected by the SPL / ASPL during the
June 15 or June 22 meeting (see calendar below). You must have your Pipestone wood completed before going
to summer camp.

First year scouts and campers, please remember that you will be taking First Aid merit badge instructed by Troop 61
in our camp site. We will be following the First Aid merit badge book. Please obtain a copy of this book and review
the prerequisites including preparing your first aid kit (requirement 2D in the 2009 edition) prior to coming to summer
camp. You will use this kit as part of your merit badge class while at summer camp. You will not be able to acquire the
supplies needed to make one while at camp. You must have it done before coming to camp.

Thursday, June 11: 1:00 pm at the Church House Parking Lot

a) Meet at 1:00 pm at the Church House Parking Lot to leave for the Whitewater Rafting Trip on the New River, WV
b) Return to Wooster on 6/13 (afternoon)

Monday, June 15: No Regular Meeting

Monday, June 22: 7:00 pm at the Church House

a) Special Pre Summer Camp Meeting
b) Report to the Church House between 7:00 pm and 8:30 pm (time needed approximately 20 minutes)
c) Review the following:

  1. Summer Camp Fee Payments
  2. Summer Camp Physical Form and Medical Authorization Form
  3. Finalize Merit Badge Schedule if not already done
  4. Review you Merit Badge prerequisites and for First Aid Merit Badge you First Aid kit
  5. Bring your Pipestone Wood (bundled, tagged, and ready for inspection by the SPL)
  6. Pick up your Troop 61 Hat and Red& Green T-Shirts if needed
  7. Pay for your Troop 61 Group Photo ($8.00) and for the pizza ($6.00)for Thursday night at camp

Additional National Information and Dates to Consider:

2010 National Scout Jamboree (July 23 to August 4, 2010 at Fort A.P. Hill, Virginia):

The Buckeye Council 2010 National Scout Jamboree Contingent (comprised of 8 adults and 72 boys) is close to filling all the 72 youth spaces. As of 8/14 it was reported that there were 10 openings available for boys.

The requirements include being a First Class Scout at the time of attendance at the jamboree in July/August 2010; have completed 7th grade or be at least 12 years of age by 1/1/2010 and have not reached his 18th birthday by July 25, 2010.

If you will meet these requirements and have an interest in attending please contact me for further information. There is a 2010 NSJ Scholarship Application available.
